Dr. Abbas Abdullah Taha, a faculty member at the College of Agriculture, University of Kirkuk, served as a lecturer in an agricultural training course organized by the Agricultural Extension and Training Center in collaboration with the Kirkuk Agriculture Directorate and the Local Federation of Agricultural Associations. The course focused on Good Agricultural Practices (GAP) for Seed Producers, supporting the 2024–2025 winter wheat season’s extension and awareness program.

    • Seed Selection: Criteria for choosing suitable wheat varieties and ensuring seed purity.

    • Land Preparation: Soil management, spatial and temporal isolation techniques, and optimal planting methods.

    • Monitoring & Documentation: Field supervision, harvest protocols, storage best practices, and record-keeping.

    • A field visit to the Daqouq Model Farm demonstrated:

      • Land preparation and seed planting.

      • Implementation of isolation distances.

      • Crop maintenance, field inspection, harvesting, processing, storage, and transportation.

The training empowered farmers with science-backed techniques to enhance seed quality, crop yield, and compliance with national agricultural standards. It underscored the university’s role in bridging academic expertise with on-ground farming needs.
