College of Agriculture Harvests Student-Grown Crops

As part of its production initiatives and hands-on curriculum, the staff of the Agricultural Research and Experiments Station at Kirkuk University’s College of Agriculture began harvesting locally grown black forage barley. This crop was cultivated by fourth-year Field Crops students for their graduation research projects.

Assistant Professor Dr. Osama Ibrahim Ahmed, Dean of the College, explained that students cultivated 5 donums (approximately 12,500 m²) of the station’s land as part of their research. The harvested barley will now serve as animal feed for the college’s livestock herds. It will also support research projects by undergraduate and graduate students in the Animal Production Department.
