It is one of the main administrative divisions in the College of Agriculture, and reports directly to the Associate Dean for Administrative and Financial Affairs.
Objectives of the Legal Affairs Department
- The Legal Affairs Department seeks to achieve justice among college staff according to laws, regulations, and instructions.
- The Legal Affairs Department provides legal protection for the college and defends it before courts and judicial authorities.
Duties and Tasks of the Legal Affairs Department
- Providing legal consultations to the college departments.
- Giving legal opinions on correspondence related to legal affairs and other matters.
- Participating in the Student Disciplinary Committee formed in the college in accordance with the Student Disciplinary Instructions in Higher Education and Scientific Research Institutions No. 160 of 2007, in addition to participating in the disciplinary committees for state employees.
- Participating in investigative committees formed in the college.
- Participating in investigative committees formed by the University Presidency/Legal Affairs Department through preparing their minutes and submitting them to the University Presidency and the Ministry for approval.
- Validating contracts concluded by the college.
- Validating scholarships and educational commitments inside and outside Iraq.
- Validating loans for teaching staff and advances for employees.
- The Legal Representative of the college is responsible for following up with police stations and competent courts in cases filed by the college against others and vice versa.
